വിശുദ്ധനായ പൗരസ്ത്യസുറിയാനി മല്പാനും ന്സീവീനിലെ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തായുമായിരുന്ന മാർ ബർസൗമായാൽ രചിക്കപ്പെട്ട കാറോസൂസ (പൗരസ്ത്യ സുറിയാനി സഭയുടെ പരിശുദ്ധ മാമ്മോദീസായുടെ തക്സായിൽ നിന്നും) നമുക്ക് പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാം; സമാധാനം നമ്മോടുകൂടെ. നമ്മുടെ നേരെയുള്ള തന്റെ അത്യധികമായ സ്നേഹത്താൽ ലോകത്തിലേക്ക് തന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രനെ അയയ്ക്കുകയും, നമ്മെ അടിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന സ്വത്തിന്റെ അടിമത്വത്തിലേക്ക് നമ്മെ വീഴ്ത്തുന്ന തെറ്റിന്റെ അന്ധകാരത്തിൽനിന്ന് തന്റെ വെളിപാടിന്റെ പ്രകാശത്താൽ നമ്മെ രക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തവനായ പിതാവായ ആലാഹായെ നാം പുകഴ്ത്തുകയും, അവനോട് തകർന്ന ഹൃദയത്തോടെയുള്ള സങ്കടത്തോടെ യാചിക്കുകയും സത്യവിശ്വാസത്തോടെ അപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക. നമ്മുടെ പൂർണ്ണ ഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണ ആത്മാവോടും പിതാവിന്റെ സ്വഭാവത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സത്യത്തിന്റെ പുത്രനെ നാം പുകഴ്ത്തുക. എന്തെന്നാൽ സ്വന്ത ഇഷ്ടത്താൽ അവൻ തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തി തന്റെ കരുണയാൽ നമ്മുടെ ശരീരം ധരിച്ച്, തന്മൂലം നമ്മെ തന്റെ സമീപത്തേയ്ക്ക് അടുപ്പിച്ചു..( For complete text, use the link below)

This is yet another new Syriac chant from the Dharmaram team. The team, under the leadership of Br. Thomas Kappil Puthusseril, CMI, is on a history-making journey to create new Syriac chants, short, simple, and singable. Instrumental accompaniment adds modern sonorities to Syriac chants. The youthful team is writing a new chapter in the history of the Syriac language in India, we hope this will inspire seminarians in the other Major seminaries of the Syro Malabar Church. We wish the team all the best and thank the members for granting permission to publish the video on our channel and add to our digital library for future scholars.

Syriac Inscriptions (17th Century) at St. Mary's Forane Church, Pallippuram

One of the side altars of St. Mary's Forane Church, Chennam Pallippuram, was built in Baroque style, probably in the seventeenth century. A sentence in Syriac is part of the ornamentation of the altar. It reads: Ha ennā amaḵōn īṯāyē adammā l’šūlāmmā d’yawmāṯā which means, “Behold, I will be with you until the end of the days” (Matthew 8:20). There are other public displays of information at this church in the Syriac script. It means that Syriac was an accepted language. As late as the 1950s, Clergy would write letters in Malayalam but sign their name in Syriac script. Public display of information in Syriac script indicates the intimacy of the language that Christians in Kerala had.
