The ALANGAD CROSS (named after the town in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India) indicates the presence of Christians from Persia (present-day Iran and Iraq) in the region. The Alangad Cross is a precursor to many other similar crosses in Kerala, Chennai, and Goa (see Martin Antony). Historians have not resolved several issues related to this Cross, such as the date and place of origin and a conclusive reading of the Persian text.
